For centuries, we have straightened, expanded, and diked our streams and rivers, fortified the banks, built weirs and dams, and created monotonous landscapes through continuous unnatural maintenance measures that leave little room for natural diversity. How could we turn the Spree and other rivers back into vibrant habitats for fish, mussels, otters, and aquatic plants, provide them with more space and floodplains, and promote ecological connectivity? How can artificial intelligence support us in developing river visions?

We will hold this discussion following introductory presentations and short videos on Spree visions and successful, practically implemented projects. We will also immerse ourselves in virtual Spree worlds using VR headsets.
